I started researching Youtube videos and found some really cool links and trailers for movies that look groundbreaking and like they could possibly be the changing force in this nation. The Youtube link (below) gave me some facts about the average American’s diet and I was grossed out to think that only 1/6 of what we eat are fruits and vegetables, especially since Michael Pollan states that plants ought to make up the majority of our diets. It also made me proud that I was boycotting soda.

Also, in light of recent events, (Obama passing his health care bill), I implore this nation to prevent the problems rather than spend tons of money on fixing our “chronic malnutrition.” Health shouldn’t be an afterthought to taste.
This movie looks amazing and offers some information as to why this is such an issue in the nation and the choice we all have as consumers. Trailer for Food Matters:

They also go over the poison we give ourselves when we try to “fix” the problems we’ve so often created ourselves. 106,000 deaths from pharmaceuticals every year in the US is disgusting and just... wrong!
We’re watching this movie, called Food Inc. in class soon and I can’t wait. This is the trailer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqQVll-MP3I&feature=related . It discusses how there is this hard veil between the American consumer (eater) and the producers (not farmers so much as factory workers).
I also found this video, which was intriguing, and I believe this man has some very valid points to be taken into serious account. Why not milk? Check it out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMHvMAUDHj4&NR=1 I know, as many others probably know too, that when I’m sick, milk multiplies my phlegm tremendously. Is it still doing that when I’m not sick? Why would I subject myself to drinking a liquid phlegm factory?
